Welcome to the month of "Movember".

Some teachers and students at GCI are trying to help change the face of men's health.  They have joined a global movement that is bringing attention to prostate cancer.    The idea for Movember was sparked in 2003 in Australia.  Some aussies joked about 80s fashion and decided it was time to bring the moustache back.

So, for the month of November, these GCI men are growing a moustache and hope you will help donate to the cause.  To get involved, you can go to http://ca.movember.com/.  The GCI team is called Will Tassies 'Stache.   The team is hoping to raise $1000 as a team for Prostate Canada.

The Universities of the week are:

Rension University College from U of Waterloo and Nipissing University.

NUTRITION FOR LEARNING

GCI will be running the Nutrition for Learning program this semester.  This program allows our students who are in need to pick up a bag of food every morning between 8:00 and 8:15, that will provide them with good nutrition and keep them ready to learn all day long.  Studies have proven that students who come to school hungry cannot focus on learning and are not as successful as they could be.  In these difficult economic times, GCI is happy to be able to assist our students.

If your family would benefit from this program, please do not hesitate to contact the school or simply have your GCI student come to room 407B any morning between 8:00 and 8:15 am.  If your family would like to help us with the program through either a financial or food contribution, we would love to hear from you as well.  (Receipts are available for any financial donations to the program)

For more information about the Nutrition for Learning program, please contact Ms Jeffries, Mrs Schrumm or Mrs Sullivan.
